God said, ’Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters and let it separate water from water.’ So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. It was so. God called the expanse ’sky.’ There was evening, and there was morning, a second day. God said, ’Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear.’ It was so. God called the dry ground ’land’ and the gathered waters he called ’seas.’ God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:6-10 / NET)

“The Lord came and stood there, and called as he had done before, ’Samuel! Samuel!’ Samuel answered, ’Speak; your servant is listening.’” (1 Samuel 3:10 / TEV)

“So tell my servant David that I, the Lord Almighty, say to him, ’When you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will make one of your sons king and will keep his kingdom strong. He will be the one to build a temple for me, and I will make sure his dynasty continues forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son.’” (2 Samuel 7:8 and 12-14 / TEV)

“…I saw the sovereign master seated on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used the remaining two to fly. They called out to one another, ’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!’ The sound of their voices shook the door frames and the temple was filled with smoke.” (Isaiah 6:1-4 / NET)

“’To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?’ asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.” (Isaiah 40:25-26 / NLT)

“God, the Lord, created the heavens and stretched them out. He created the earth and everything in it. He gives breath to everyone, life to everyone who walks the earth.” (Isaiah 42:5 / NLT)

“…you refuse to ask for my help. You have grown tired of me…You have not honored me with sacrifices, though I have not burdened and wearied you…Instead, you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your faults. I - yes, I alone - will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.” (Isaiah 43:22-25 / NLT)

“I, the Lord, made you, and I will not forget you. I have swept away yours sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.” (Isaiah 44:21-22 / NLT)

“I alone am God, the First and the Last. It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth, my right hand that spread out the heavens above. When I call out the stars, they all appear in order.” (Isaiah 48: 12-13 / NLT)

“For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with great compassion I will take you back. In a burst of anger, I turned my face away for a little while. But with everlasting love I will have compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:7-8 / NLT)

“The Lord gave me this message: ’I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.’” (Jeremiah 1:4-5 / NLT)

“The hand of the Lord was upon me...He asked me, ’Son of man, can these bones live?’ I said, ’O Sovereign Lord, you alone know.’ Then he said to me, ’Prophesy to these bones and say to them, Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they know nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:36-39 / NIV ®)

“At that time Jesus was filled with joy by the Holy Spirit and said, ’Father, Lord of heaven and earth! I thank you because you have shown to the unlearned what you have hidden from the wise and learned. Yes, Father, this was how you were pleased to have it happen. My Father has given me all things. “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6 / NLT)
