Alex and Gabby Moises

I'm the author-organizer of this website while Gabby is an endearing child who graduated from the pre-school years as an honor student and an active contributor to this site. In 2013, Gabby became a real contributor to the wide world of the web. In addition, I am also the author-organizer of "Philippine Stamps & Topical Collecting" at alexmoises/tripod.com and "Alex Moises on Facebook" which has been renamed appropriately by Gabby as "Hearts and Stars." Andres Bonifacio

He was the founder of the revolutionary organization called the Katipunan and the "father of the Philippine revolution of 1896." Many Filipinos consider him as the foremost national hero of the Philippines. Jose Melo

A lawyer and jurist by profession, Jose Melo was appointed chairman of the Commission on Elections in 2008. He was the man of the moment, the central figure during the historic computerized Philippine elections of 2010, which were the cleanest elections in modern Philippine history.

Philippine Heroes and a Heroine

Emilio Aguinaldo

He was the general who proclaimed the independence of the Philippines from Spanish rule in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898.

Jose Rizal

He is the national hero of the Philippines.

Melchora "Tandang Sora" Aquino

Known as the "mother of the Katipunan," Melchora Aquino was the famous old woman who provided support to the Filipino revolutionaries who led the uprising against the Spanish colonial government in 1896.

Statesmen

Blas Ople

He was a writer, a diplomat and a statesman. He was a member of the Constitutional Commission that wrote the Philippine Constitution of 1987. He was elected to the Philippine Senate in 1992 and re-elected in 1998. He died in 2005.

Carlos P. Romulo

He was a general, diplomat and Pulitzer-prize awardee. He served the General Assembly of the United Nations as president from 1949 to 1950 and, later in his life, he worked for the Philippine government as education secretary and foreign affairs minister.

Manuel L. Quezon

He was the first president of the Philippine Commonwealth which was established in 1935 and a passionate advocate of a totally independent Philippines during the American occupation of the Philippines.

Bellaflor Angara Castillo: She was a former trial lawyer and member of the House of Representatives. She is currently the governor of Aurora province (2012).

Loren Legarda: A former journalist, Loren Legarda is an environmentalist and member of the current Philippine Senate (2012).

Milagros Magsaysay: She is a member of the House of Representatives, representing the 2nd district of Zambales (2012).

Miriam Defensor-Santiago

A former professor and judge, Miriam Santiago is a member of the current Philippine Senate (2012).

Sports Personalities

Carlos Loyzaga, Sr.

He was the legendary Filipino basketball player dubbed as "the great difference." He was a member of the Philippine team that placed third in the 1954 FIBA World Basketball Championship and he was named to the "Mythical Five" of that tournament.

Efren "Bata" Reyes

Known as "the magician" worldwide, Efren Reyes is one of the world's great billiard player. He has helped transformed billiard from a favorite past-time of students and "kanto boys" ("street guys") to a "well-respected" sports in the Philippines.

Gabriel "Flash" Elorde

Gabriel "Flash" Elorde is an icon in boxing, and he holds the distinction as the longest reigning junior lightweight (super featherweight) champion of the world (1960-1966).

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao

He is one of the greatest boxers of all time who has won a staggering 8 division titles.
