December 30 is Rizal Day in the Philippines. It is a non-working holiday and an important event in my country. The day is intended to honor Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.

Donation for the Typhoon Victims in Mindanao

A few days ago, I took out my little angel and ate with her at a McDonald’s restaurant. Just before we entered the restaurant, we noticed a poster which said that the restaurant was accepting donations for the Mindanao victims of typhoon “Pablo.” After paying the bill for our orders, we gave our donation to the restaurant manager.

Today, I’m sharing a link to the UNICEF website which is accepting donations for the typhoon victims.

The Christmas Story and The Birth of Jesus

“At that time Emperor Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Roman Empire. When this first census took place, Quirinius was the governor of Syria. Everyone, then, went to register himself, each to his hometown.”

“Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She was pregnant, and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her baby. She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger – there was no room for them to stay in the inn.”

“There were some shepherds in that part of the country who were spending the night in the fields, taking care of their flocks. The People Who Matter on Christmas Time

It is Christmas time, and I cannot help but think and reflect often on the things my little angel (Gabby) and I have done and the time we have spent together for several years. Those were very productive years that produced three awards for my little angel, one of which was the “Academic Excellence” or “Outstanding Pupil” award during her pre-school years. I, also, was able to work on our website at Jimdo.com, “Hearts Philippines & Then Some,” which is now or fast becoming “The Website for the Philippines.” Parts I, II and III of the site are practically complete and needs only a few sets of photos to improve them. Parts IV, V and VI as well as the Contact-Author Section are constantly being improved and enhanced and these sections of the site are in a very dynamic state. Other parts will, of course, be improved. In addition, my little angel and I have a social network at Facebook.com, http://www.facebook.com/alexmoises77. And there were more good things we have accomplished that are too personal to be published. Those years were also quality years. It was a time of bonding and of forming friendship that is loyal, honest, filled with love and enduring and whose goal was – without a shadow of a doubt - to promote and enhance the well-being of my little angel which, in turn, promotes my well-being. It was a learning experience for me as much as it was with my little angel, Gabby. As her tutor, she learned so many good things from me; as an adult, I was a witness to many of her innocent behaviors that were absolutely heart-warming. God bless my little angel.
