Praying for the Victims of Natural Disasters and Diseases
Major natural disasters happened or are happening in many parts of the world: wildfires in California, heatwave in Europe and Japan, earthquake in Indonesia, violent storm in Italy which was reported to be the cause of a horrific bridge collapse, typhoons and flooding in Southeast Asia and the Philippines, measles outbreak in Brasil, and so on. In many parts of my country, floods have destroyed many towns. Many deaths have occurred because of these natural disasters, particularly in Japan and Indonesia. And many more are rendered homeless by these disasters. Hundreds of thousands of people are now homeless in Lombok, Indonesia.
Please pray for them. And if you can help, financially or through other means, do so.

Praying for the Victims of Natural and Man-Made Disasters
This month, there have been many and different kinds of disasters in various places that have been reported on the internet and television: heatwave, flooding and storms in Japan, storm and the collapse of a dam in Laos, wildfires in Sweden and Greece, unrelenting rain and flooding in many parts of my country, the Philippines. There are more. Some of the images of these disasters were quite horrific.
I sympathize with you – the people affected by these disasters, and I pray for all of you.

World Cup 2018
Croatia won their semi-finals match against England. It was a great match and another thriller at the World Cup in Russia. Croatia have been involved in three thrilling games as they move towards the finals against France, which have an offensive juggernaut. That, I think, is going to be a thriller.
France are the choice of football pundits and sportswriters to win the World Cup. Good luck to France. But I say, “Go Croatia!” You have nothing to lose. And if you still do not know it by now, there are many footballing fans all over the world who are cheering for the underdog Croatia who have more than enough chance to win the World Cup 2018.

World Cup 2018
The teams who qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup are France, Belgium, England and Croatia. France will meet Belgium on July 10, 2018 at 9:00 pm local time (July 11 at 2:00 am for the Philippines); England will meet Croatia on July 11 at 9:00 pm local time (July 12 at 2:00 am for the Philippines).
I am cheering for Croatia. I hope they win the World Cup 2018. But they have to beat England who defend very well and clinically attack the goal, I think. Then they have to beat France or Belgium, (most likely, France) both of whom have shown they can win crucial games.
PS:
I was able to follow Croatia from the group stage up to the quarterfinals. In the group stage, they had to meet powerhouse Argentina, the emerging “footballing” country that was Iceland and a strong Nigerian team. It was quite “nerve-wracking” for me watching them fight it out for the “last 16.” I was not cheering for any team at that time. During the knockout and quarterfinals stage, Croatia emerge victorious in two, truly thrilling matches.

If I may add, try following World Cup 2018. It is terribly exciting. Teams have a tremendously positive attitude towards playing a very good game, whatever the match.
I watch the games live on TV and the replays, and I read internet news/blogs about the games, sometimes simultaneously, like multi-tasking. Here are a few things I can share: I got shocked by the exit of Germany, enjoyed the games between Peru and Australia, and Senegal and Colombia, and followed the games and results of Group D (Croatia, Argentina, Nigeria and Iceland), which was "nerve-wracking."

Pilatelika Pilipinas / Katalogo at Imahen ng mga Selyo ng Pilipinas, 1946-1950
This one is new. It is philately written in Filipino. I am not aware of any catalog of Philippine stamps written in Filipino. So I made this one.
Filipino and literature (American and Filipino) were favorite subjects of mine during college days.
I used the TagalogTranslate.com by Princeton University, and ImTranslator by Smart Link Corporation and which had the Microsoft and Google translators. I now give these 4 institutions the right to use my work on this Filipino catalog of Philippines stamps for translation and educational purposes.
I will continue working on this Filipino catalog. You can follow me if you are interested about things Philippines.
